Inner Space Gallery shows photographs of wine, herbs, chemicals of life, vitamins, and drugs taken with an interference microscope. These images have been seen in Scientific American, OMNI Magazine, Wines and Vines, Wine Brats, and numerous multimedia presentations.

I first used a camera as a scientist learning about human blood cells and how to distinguish young and old cells, normal and cancer cells. My first camera was, of course, attached to a microscope. Cells intrigued me. To watch them move or embrace a tasty morsel gave me chills and awe -- each tiny microscopic cell was in its own universe and had life. Soon the whole microscopic world began to intrigue me. What did chemicals look like?

Substances oftimes look like what they do...that is, a sour acid looks sharp while sugar is round. With a vivid imagination you might even think that molecules and cells have a secret code, a language between them, that we loftier and taller creatures, can not yet understand... That is until now.

The Microscope as Seer

The microscope offers a vantage point that expands our vision and mind. In the 15th and 16th century in Europe it was illegal to use a microscope or telescope. Illegal? Illegal because they expanded vision and consciousness. Yet now they expand our view of the sacred.
